Sam Gilliland joined Smith Barney as a Senior Vice President in March 2002 and has been advising private and institutional investors about portfolio design, investment selection and financial planning for more than twenty years. Most recently he was a Director at Deutsche Bank Alex Brown, and has previously been an Investment Representative with Bear Stearns & Co. and Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. in New York City.

Designated a Senior Investment Management Specialist by the Smith Barney Consulting Group, Mr. Gilliland’s securities registrations include Series 7, 63 and 65. In addition, he’s a licensed life and health insurance producer.  Sam is a current board member and Treasurer of the Connecticut Venture Group and has served as the Selection Committee Chair for the Crossroads Venture Fair since 2000.

Mr. Gilliland grew up in Fairfield, CT, attended Governor Dummer Academy, and graduated with a B.A. in English from Denison University in 1979. He currently lives in Greenwich, CT, with his wife and three daughters. His hobbies include sailing, racing cars, playing ice hockey, and gardening.
